EVA CASAL (Mental Industries) Berlin/GER

1988: came to Germany from Canada.

1990: involved in Hiphop & Electronic Music (Break Dance). As a kid and liking the space invaders sound of my C64 - djing at scholparties with mostly tapes - never liked kraftwerk too much though hated the Hiphop attitude of the guys.

1992: got in touch with techno - better attitude huh?

1993: started buying records.

1994: left school hing and jobbed in a record store.

1995: moved to Berlin to go back to school, started mixing records, first gigs @ Tresor and E-Werk. After this many clubs / events in Berlin + Loveparade

1996: left school nad started working at Kiss FM Berlin. Wanting to become a Tone Engineer, Djing at Kiss FM and doing single shows like interviewing Sister Sledge (First one, ahw!). Had may first foregin gig (Denmark Arhus Blitz). Started working at Dynamix International Booking Agency after Kiss FM was bought up by a big company and everyone had to leave.

1997: first residency at Hertz Club Saarbucken. Djing became more professional, first production with a friend (was never released though). Quit Dynamix - me is not a born booker! Sent the wrong Djs to the wrong gigs and decided to do more for myself. Started working at Tresor Records Berlin.

1998: djing and travelling all over the world, became a resident at Tresor. Started learning to produce on my own... Stilla long way to go.

1999: big musical crisis, after starting with electronic bleeps and Chicago in 95 went over Detroit and got really bored of it... had to move on... came back to loving the bleep... finaly got rid of the fucking slow PC and got a G3 - life made sense then.

2000: loving the bleep more and more... finding what i really wanted to hear. Started going back in time, learning more about musical history why things sound like they do and who did it right... had a great teacher. Discount had to close - a big hole was left. Wasted most of my free time on-line or on-planes.

2001: a year of change. Released first release on Mental IND. 002 - No he didn`t. Quit working at Tresor Records after almost 4 years. Colaborating whit other Electronic Music artists and travelling around the globe instead of office work. Started making sound design for short films by Rommelo Yu for his exhibition in October 2002 at KW Berlin. Did some work and played whit/as the sound collage/clash (Music Concrete) Group Disk vs Dollar, discovered  a great musical playground in Norway. Colabourating whit artists from Oslo live music and art performances. Doing some studiosessions with a vocalist coming form an industrial background... more to come... collecting sounds and ideas to work with.

2002: a good year. FM 4 presenter of "la boum deluxe" in vienna ( 1 friday per month ). Working on two EP'S for Nest and Mental Ind. Right now... Colabourating whit friend and colleague Toby Smith... Just about to found the break-trash-hop-gabber-funk-act of the year. Liveacts to follow in autumn.
